The Košice self-governing region and the extra-league hockey club HC Košice join forces to help increase the vaccination coverage of people over 50 years of age.
Every fan over the age of 50 who comes to be vaccinated at the Steel Arena on November 6 will receive two tickets to the “steelmakers” home game. Anna Terezková, a spokeswoman for the KSK chairman, informed about it. If the number of people vaccinated rises to 65 percent in the over-50 age group, the color of the district may change one degree lower. This means that the district could avoid black paint and the strictest measures due to high vaccination.
“At the end of October, almost 60 percent of the population over the age of 50 were vaccinated in the Košice Region, specifically 63.2 percent in Košice. Only a few dozen vaccinated vaccines are missing to reach the limit, thanks to which Košice would no longer get black. Together with HC Košice, we want to motivate the Easterners to be vaccinated with two tickets to the home matches of this hockey club.
They can be obtained free of charge by people over the age of 50 who come to be vaccinated at the Steel Arena in Košice on Saturday, November 6. I believe that hockey fans want to share the joy of each goal with their favorite team, so they will use vaccinations for the benefit of health and the joy of tickets in addition, “ he said Chairman of the Košice Self-Governing Region Rastislav Trnka.
The simulated vaccination cubicle will be set up in the Steel Arena on the premises of the press center, the regional outpatient vaccination team will be vaccinated on Saturday, November 6, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Healthcare professionals will vaccinate every fan, regardless of whether they come for the first, second or third dose. They will also be vaccinated with a single-dose Janssen vaccine and a two-dose vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech.

On Saturday, the sale of equipment, jerseys and products of the HC Košice fanshop will also take place in the entrance hall of the Steel Arena. Each visitor will receive a gift in the form of posters, yearbooks, DVDs or promotional items of the club.
“We turn to all fans who are still hesitant to get vaccinated, or are interested in another vaccination, to visit us on Saturday. So far, we can only win the fight against the pandemic by vaccination. The sports community is large and combative, so we firmly believe that together we will keep Košice stadiums, fitness centers, as well as the gastronomic industry and other facilities alive, ” stated Executive Director of HC Košice Miloslav Klíma.
Vaccination rates in the region will also play a crucial role in organizing sporting events. When determining the color of the districts, priority will be given to the joker, who, thanks to the high vaccination coverage, breaks the rules that apply when the situation worsens.
“Thanks to the joker, we could almost certainly play hockey matches in front of the currently approved spectator backdrop, ie in front of 2,000 spectators. Currently, burgundy Košice is in danger of moving to the black zone, which would mean reducing the stadium’s capacity to almost zero and limiting the youth training process, and none of us certainly wants that. Hockey without spectators loses its atmosphere, I believe that together we will be able to keep the stadiums open, “ added Climate.
