TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Passport is a travel document issued by the government of a country to its citizens who will travel abroad. Reported on the kemlu.go.id page, although a passport is not directly proof of a person’s citizenship but is a travel document, in practice immigration officials at airports or international ports will recognize a person’s national identity from the passport he is carrying.
The RI passport currently issued has 48 pages, on the front of which is the symbol of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, the Garuda Bird, printed in gold ink. Here are three types of RI Passport, namely:
1. Ordinary Passport (green), which is generally used by Indonesian citizens;
2. Service passports (blue in color) are generally used by RI officials traveling abroad for official duties; And
3. Passport Diplomatic (black) is specifically used by Indonesian Diplomats and their families assigned to various Indian Representations abroad, as well as for certain Indian Officials who travel abroad for diplomatic duties.

Service Passport
Reported on Kemlu.go.id, the validity period of an Indonesian passport is 5 years. RI passports whose validity period has expired must be replaced through the issuance of a new passport book. In addition, the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City can also issue a new Indonesian passport book if the old passport book has full pages even though it has not expired, and the passport is lost/damaged. Arrangements for an Indonesian passport can be done by visiting/contacting the Immigration section of the Indonesian Consulate in Davao City.
In accordance with Law number 6 of 2011 concerning immigration and Government Regulation Number
31 of 2013 as the implementing regulation, Diplomatic Passport and Service Passport are given
limited to state officials, state employees, TNI – Polri and members of the legislature.
Diplomatic Passport is given to travel outside the Indonesian Territory in order
placement or travel for tasks of a diplomatic nature. Service passports are given to officials who will travel outside the Indonesian Territory in order
non-diplomatic placement or official travel.
Since January 2018, requests for the issuance of Diplomatic Passport and Service Passport or blue passport has been carried out using the android application “exitpermit”, with access officially requested to the Consular Directorate.
Requirements to Manage Service Passport

1. A valid identity card (KTP) or certificate of moving abroad
2. Family card (KK)
3. Documents in the form of birth certificates, marriage certificates, marriage books, diplomas, or baptismal certificate*
4. Letter of Indonesian citizenship for foreigners who acquire Indonesian citizenship or submission of a statement to choose citizenship in accordance with statutory provisions
5. Name change stipulation letter (for those who have changed their name) from the authorized official

*Name, place and date of birth, as well as parents’ names must be listed in the document. If not, you can attach a statement from the competent authority.
