Foods that are slowly broken down into blood sugar have little impact on blood sugar levels. However, foods that are broken down quickly can cause blood sugar spikes.
Although eating fruit provides the body with essential vitamins and minerals, certain types of fruit can cause blood sugar levels to spike because they are quickly broken down by the body. Type fruit it ranks high on the glycemic index (GI).

Reporting from Express, Wednesday (16/6) GI is a scoring system for foods that contain carbohydrates. It shows how quickly each food affects blood sugar (glucose) levels when that food is eaten.
“The key is to eat fruit in moderation, as it’s important to make sure you’re not metabolizing too many grams of carbohydrates through fruit consumption,” says CuraLife.
The fruits with a high GI include watermelon, pumpkin, pineapple, fruit juices and dried fruit. Meanwhile, the best fruit for diabetics to eat is one that has a low GI.
