In a study published in the US National Library of Health National Institutes of Medicine, breakfast intake among adults with type 2 diabetes analyzed.
The cross-sectional study looked at daily energy intake from 24-hour dietary recalls. Several models were used to help estimate the relationship between daily energy intake and the quartiles of energy intake at breakfast.
The study found that consuming the right type of breakfast comprising a greater proportion of daily energy intake was associated with lower total daily energy intake in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Two common reasons for fatigue or lack of energy are the direct result of blood sugar levels being too high or too low.
In both cases, fatigue is the result of an imbalance between a person’s blood sugar levels and the amount or effectiveness of circulating insulin. Many people with type 2 diabetes complain of feeling tired or lethargic.
This is because fatigue is the main symptom of type 2 diabetes but it also depends on the type of food consumed. With breakfast being an integral part of providing energy, diabetic patients are encouraged to consume smoothies, oatmeal, eggs, healthy cereals, yogurt and fruit.
A diabetes-friendly breakfast is one that includes the right proportion of healthy combinations of carbohydrates, protein and fats, which help balance blood sugar. A simple diabetes-friendly breakfast includes a plate of eggs and avocado on whole grain bread or a bowl of fruit and yogurt.
