This condition is known as retinopati diabetik . Where this eye problem begins with symptoms that are barely noticeable, but as the damage progresses, visual clues will emerge.
If left untreated, blindness can occur. Damaged blood vessels result in the retina not getting the blood supply it needs to function optimally.
Reporting from Express, Wednesday (23/6) the charity Diabetes UK noted the stages of diabetic retinopathy. Among these are background retinopathy, non-proliferative retinopathy, proliferative retinopathy and diabetic maculopathy.

Background retinopathy means vision is not (yet) affected. However, if blood sugar levels continue to rise, the condition will move to the next stage.
When symptoms appear, the Mayo Clinic indicates that dark or empty areas may develop in your vision.
High blood sugar can also cause blurred vision, impaired color vision, fluctuating vision, non-proliferative retinopathy and vision loss.
People who have this complication of diabetes may also see floaters, which are black threads or spots that float in their vision.

The Mayo Clinic explains that this stage of diabetic retinopathy is an indication that new blood vessels are not forming at the back of the eye. At this stage of diabetes complications, the walls of the blood vessels in the retina weaken.
