The Linz police have identified two young Syrians who are said to have cut up an Israel flag in front of the Old Town Hall.
After an Israeli flag that was flown at half-mast in front of the Old Town Hall in Linz was cut up on Thursday night, the police identified two young Syrians as suspects. The Upper Austrian state police director Andreas Pilsl spoke of a “politically motivated crime”.
According to “Kurier”, the two young people are said to be 15 and 17 years old. The Israeli flag was hoisted on the town hall on Wednesday as a sign of solidarity, but was destroyed a few hours later, on Thursday night.
The quick clarification is “a clear sign that we do not tolerate anti-Semitism in Upper Austria,” said Police Director Pilsl. (APA)
