Two young people were caught stealing wallets at a blood donation center

The Ibagué Metropolitan Police managed to capture in flagrante delicto a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, allegedly responsible for the theft of three wallets, personal documents and cash in the city center.

The police intervention was carried out thanks to the alert of a citizen, who reported a suspicious couple who had stolen wallets from several women’s purses at a blood donation facility.

The procedure, carried out by quadrant four of the CAI Centenario, allowed the recovery of three wallets that contained a total of 249,000 pesos in cash, in addition to personal documents such as citizenship cards and credit and debit cards, valued at approximately one million pesos.

The victims, three women between 21 and 31 years old, identified the alleged criminals at the scene.

Major Luis Carlos Flórez Quintero, in statements to the media, highlighted the importance of citizen collaboration for the success of this type of operations. “The Ibagué Metropolitan Police will continue to carry out operations and strategic plans throughout the city in order to counteract theft and guarantee the safety of citizens,” he stated.

However, later, the Fifth Municipal Criminal Judge of Ibagué issued an arrest warrant, which was executed by the Criminal Investigation Section (Sijín) and the Prosecutor’s Office in the same municipality of Martinique.
