Two young people drowned after a vehicle fell into the canal

Two teenagers drowned after the car that one of them was driving fell into a lake in the city of Sunrise, in southeastern Florida (USA), and another jumped into the water to save him, local media reported Wednesday.

The event occurred last night, when an 18-year-old teenager lost control of the car he was driving by probably making a wrong turn maneuver and rushed into a canal in the aforementioned city of Broward County, north of Miami.

A 17-year-old boy who was walking in the area saw the accident and jumped into the water to try to help the driver out of the car, but died in the attempt, the Local 10 News channel picked up.

Media footage shows rescuers pulling one of the victims out of the canal and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him.

Both the driver and the teenager who jumped into the water, whose identities were not released, were taken to a hospital, where doctors could do nothing to save their lives.

According to a witness, the young man who drowned while trying to help the driver out of the car is a student at a high school in the city of Davie.
