The tragedy occurred around 4 a.m., on the departmental RD 242, in Saint-Sulpice-et-Cameyrac, about twenty kilometers east of Bordeaux. It was a motorist who raised the alarm when he discovered a Peugeot 308 smashed against a tree.
Significant emergency resources were quickly dispatched to the scene, mobilizing firefighters, Smur medical teams and police. Despite their efforts, they were unable to do anything for the young victims, who died on the spot.
“The shock was extremely violent, given the state of the car,” testifies the mayor of Saint-Sulpice-et-Cameyrac, Pierre Cotsas, who went to the scene in the middle of the night, with an assistant.
The accident took place in a straight line, on the departmental 242 which connects Saint-Sulpice-et-Cameyrac to the neighboring town of Saint-Loubès.
