Jérémy Boulanger and Jérémy Corrigan recently admitted their crimes at the Longueuil courthouse.
In the fall of 2020, they pressured a 15-year-old girl to offer her body to men in exchange for money. Corrigan, then 18, and the victim had met on the SnapChat app.
The first time she was asked to prostitute herself, she refused. But she ended up consenting to the creation of a Tinder account, accompanied by daring photos.
Soon, a customer showed up. Accompanied by co-accused Jérémy Boulanger, Corrigan and the teenager went to a motel.
Unable to pay the amount of the room, the group asked the customer to pay.
But, noting that the young person was a minor, the clerk refused to rent her a room. The teenager ended up admitting to the client that she was indeed not of age, which made him flee.
Saved by chance
The trio went to another motel. Feeling guilty for having made the transaction fail, the teenager accepted that an advertisement to display her sexual services be created on an escort site. Some customers have responded.
“Fortunately, no conversation has any follow-up”, explained in Court the Crown prosecutor in the file, Ms.e Ève Malouin, stating that the defendants were then intoxicated with Xanax, an anxiolytic.
The teenager’s ordeal ended thanks to the presence by chance of police officers, who intercepted the group of young people illegally crossing Taschereau Boulevard. The officers drove her home.
But in the following days, the ad offering his services, created with his real details, was reposted twice. The victim therefore received text messages and emails from clients wanting to pay her for sex.
Jérémy Corrigan even revived her to ask her to come back to the motel or find her a friend. She refused and eventually told the police everything.
Various attempts
The victim recounted, in a letter read in court, having had nightmares for a long time afterwards.
“I experienced shame, because I believed that all events were my fault,” she wrote.
“I lost my youth, my carelessness, my naivety to the world, my enthusiasm, in short, I lost myself,” she added.
During the investigation, the police discovered that several other women, including minors, had also been offered prostitution. One had accepted and had to satisfy the desires of two customers.
Jérémy Boulanger will have to serve a 26-month prison sentence, while his accomplice, Jérémy Corrigan, received a 42-month sentence. They will go to jail later, when they return to court.
