Two young Flemings have a chance to win the Boekenbon Literature Prize

Two young Flemish and three established Dutch names are on the shortlist of the Boekenbon Literature Prize.

Two Flemish people were on the long list of the Boekenbon Literature Prize. They both made it to the shortlist: Charlotte Van den Broeck (29) charmed the jury with her prose debut Ventures, an essayistic collection about tragic architects who perished in their failed construction projects.

Koen Sels (38) ends up with a select group of nominees with his second novel Gloria, in which he reflects on fatherhood.

The jury thus chooses two young and idiosyncratic Flemish voices. The three Dutch nominees have a longer track record: Marcel Möring has a chance with Amen, Stephan Enter met Pastoral and Oek de Jong met Black barn.

The Boekenbon Literature Prize may not immediately ring a bell, but it is the successor to the Ako Literature Prize, which has changed sponsor and name several times in recent years. We will know on 12 November who will soon be the first laureate of the prize under this name and can go home with 50,000 euros.
