Two years after Walter Friedenberg's death, the group "After the Darkness" is making big plans.

Jānis Daugalis founded the group “Tumsa” in 1991 in Liepāja. Three years later, when the group was left by its soloist Felix Kigelis, Jānis invited Mārtiņš Freimanis from Aizpute to replace him.

Now, almost two years after Walter Friedenberg’s eternity, the group “After the Darkness” has been fully completed. Former members of “Tumsas” Jānis Daugalis and Haralds Drexlers continue to work there, inviting friends and experienced drummer Uldis Knapši (he has also played several concerts in the group “Tumsa”, replacing Kaspars Boroduško; collaborated with Ainars Virgs, Ivo Fomins), guitarist Kristi Bra “), but the last to join the group is vocalist Jānis Dreimanis (” No seats “,” Dawn Town “).

The birth of the new group can be considered February 2019, when Jānis, Haralds and Uldis, in cooperation with Arturs Gruzdiņš (“Reflection”), participated in the “Musical Bank” concert in Daugavpils, dedicating the song to Valters Friedenbergs. This was followed by concerts and festivals in Liepāja and Kurzeme, where Emīls Dreiblats (“Willov Farm”) helped with vocal parties, until the group’s current composition was formed and strengthened during the year.

However, we very much hope and plan to do so at the end of the year. Of course, we will also play “Darkness” songs both in the original sound and by changing something a bit. The sound is different because the band now has two guitars instead of one and a keyboardist as before. In the concerts we will play both regularly performed “Darkness” songs and those that have not been played for many years. In this way, showing respect and always keeping in mind excellent friends – “Tumsas” vocalists, composers and word authors – Mārtiņš and Valters.
