Two years after the start of vaccination against Covid-19, more than 23.8 million doses have been applied in CDMX

The Ministry of Health of Mexico City (Sedesa) pointed out that, two years after the start of the National Vaccination Campaign against COVID-19, 23 million 866 thousand 599 doses have been applied free of charge in the capital of the country. the population over 5 years of age, in order to guarantee the right to health of the citizens of the capital and that they have greater protection against disease.

From February 15, 2021 to February 13, 2023, 8 million 659 thousand 387 biologicals have been applied in the first dose, which represents 100.7 percent of the population; meanwhile, 7 million 985 thousand 794 second doses were placed, which means 92.9 percent; and in reinforcements for people over 18 years of age, there are 7 million 221 thousand 418 vaccines, which is 84.0 percent.

Additionally, from April 1, 2020 to February 13, 2023, 5 million 102 thousand 673 rapid tests and PCR for timely detection of COVID-19 have been carried out free of charge in the capital.

To date, the vaccines that have been applied in the capital, authorized by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) for emergency use, are the following: Pfizer/Biontech (in its adult and pediatric presentation) , Sputnik V, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Cansino, Moderna and Abdala.

Likewise, from December 21, 2022 to February 13 of this year, 151,923 doses of the biological Abdala have been applied as reinforcements, for those people who have already completed four months of their last vaccine; It must be taken into account that before this vaccine arrived in our country, almost the entire population of the City had already received its complete scheme and the corresponding reinforcements.

It should be remembered that, in February 2021, in the Milpa Alta, Cuajimalpa and Magdalena Contreras municipalities, vaccination campaigns began in schools and some IMSS health units, where the population aged 60 and over came to be inoculated for the first time.

Afterwards, the Government of Mexico City implemented the macro-sedes vaccination model, with the support of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the National Polytechnic Institute, the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico and the private initiative, among others.

Since October 24, 2022, the 230 Health Centers of the Sedesa began to apply vaccines against COVID-19 for reinforcements and children between 5 and 11 years of age.

Vaccination is maintained so far with doses available for reinforcement with Abdala for people over 18 years of age and over; while in 17 medical units it continues to complete schemes in children between 5 and 11 years of age with Pfizer in its pediatric presentation.

Finally, the Headquarters recalled that the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 was achieved thanks to the coordination of all levels of the capital government with federal administration units.
