Two-year-old slain by dresser – Ikea pays parents 41 million

Rand three years after the death of a toddler from an overturned Ikea chest of drawers, his parents receive the equivalent of 41 million euros from the Swedish furniture company. This was announced by the lawyers of the US family Dudek on Monday.

In a lawsuit filed in 2018, she had accused Ikea of ​​knowing about the risk of tipping over from Malm type chests of drawers, especially since several children had already been injured or killed as a result. However, the company failed to exhort customers to anchor the furniture on the wall. According to the information, Ikea launched a recall campaign in 2016.

The family’s two-year-old son suffered serious injuries in 2017 when the 32-kilogram chest of drawers fell on him. He later died.
