Two-year-old girl is killed by car in a Staten Island supermarket parking lot – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – A two-year-old girl was killed Friday afternoon after being run over in the parking lot of a Staten Island supermarket, police announced.

The uniformed officers responded to the supermarket Stop and Shop, located in Forest Avenue near Veltman Avenue, shortly before 2:00 pm, after receiving reports of a pedestrian who had been run over.

Emergency medical services were the first to arrive to treat the two-year-old, according to the New York City Police Department.

Investigators determined that the driver of a Ford Explorer, a 69-year-old woman, was trying to get out of the parking lot and the girl jumped in front of the truck. At that time, he would have run over the minor, who was pronounced dead a short time later. The woman remained at the scene during the police investigation.

The two-year-old girl was identified as Autumn Garrison. It was not disclosed who the little girl was with.

There were no immediate arrests or announcement of criminal charges.

The New York City Police Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the accident.
