Two Women Stabbed to Death at a Mall in Hong Kong in Shocking Random Attack

Terrifying! Two women died after suddenly stabbed at a mall Hong Kong in an apparently random attack. This is a shocking event in a city where violent crime is rare.

Reported CNN, Saturday (3/6/2023), graphic video clips circulating on social media show the perpetrator pinning one of the women to the floor and repeatedly stabbing her. The video clip also shows the woman’s friend trying to fend off the assailant, but to no avail. He too was later stabbed.

Police said that the two women, aged 22 and 26, suffered multiple injuries in the incident stabbing at the Hollywood Plaza mall in Diamond Hill on Friday (2/6) afternoon local time. Both died after being taken to the hospital.

Senior inspector of police Elieen Chung Lai-yee said the assailant – who does not appear to know the two women – purchased the 12-inch knife used in the attack at the same mall shortly before the stabbing.

“He walked around for a few minutes and then launched his attack on the first victim,” he said.

Lai said that another woman came forward to stop him, but became a target herself.

“We found multiple knife wounds on (the two women) and they were bleeding profusely,” he said.

Police say they have arrested a 39-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of murder. The suspect has a history of mental illness.
