The Sofia City Court remanded Krasimira Trifonova in custody and placed Gabriela Slavova-Peeva under house arrest, accused of murdering a man in the Dragalevtsi district.
“The motives are very different,” lawyer Velika Andonova, who defends Krasimira Trifonova, pointed out after the hearing.
The prosecutor’s office did not comment to the media.
The hearing took place behind closed doors at the request of the defense. One of the reasons for this is that the mother-in-law of the murdered Peyo Peev, who remains in custody, turned out to be a diplomat with over 30 years of experience and is a public figure. The main motive for the crime was a dispute over parental rights. The victim’s wife claimed that only one of their two children was from him, and that he was the father of both children.
The charge against the two women is that they intentionally killed the 44-year-old man who was sitting in the driver’s seat of a car in front of their block. At this stage, it is assumed that the mother-in-law strangled Peev, and his wife pushed him against the seat so that he would not resist.
The cause of death was strangulation, according to investigators. The car with the body of the murdered man was found slightly burnt in a wooded area, in the Vitosha region, on the road to the Aleko hut.
The decision of the court is not final and is subject to appeal and protest before the Court of Appeal.
