Two women from The Hague detained at Schiphol after returning from Syria | NOW

Two women aged 27 and 30 were arrested at Schiphol on Tuesday evening after their return from Syria. They are suspected of participating in a terrorist organization. Both women are from The Hague. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) reports this on Friday.

According to the OM, the 27-year-old woman traveled to Syria after the terror attacks in Paris in 2015 to participate in the armed struggle of IS.

The other woman is believed to have left for Syria in 2014. The OM says that the two recently traveled on their own from a camp in northeastern Syria via Iraq to Turkey. During their flight to the Netherlands they were accompanied by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.

The examining magistrate in Rotterdam decided on Friday that the women will remain in prison for the next two weeks.
