Two Women Arrested in Cianjur for Human Trafficking via Contract Marriage Mode

Two women with the initials RN (21) and LR (54) were arrested in the area Cianjur. The two were arrested after the police received a report of a criminal case of human trafficking (TYPE) by contract marriage mode.

It is known that the victim felt trapped by two women with the initials RN (21) and LR (54) who were pimps. The girls who were the victims were sold to men from the Middle East for tens of millions of rupiah, and then cut by 50 percent by the two perpetrators.

“It started with one of the victims who reported it. After we investigated, it turned out that there were two perpetrators involved in the TIP case using the contract marriage method. The women were RN and LR both of them,” said Tono, as reported by detikjabarWednesday (17/4/20240).

From the results of the investigation, it was found that the two perpetrators had been working on contract marriages since 2019. RN was asked to find girls who would be sold to witnesses from abroad.

At the same time, LR is tasked with looking for ‘buyers’ or men who are looking for partners for a contract marriage. Both of them are known to marry girls from Santri City to local men, India, Singapore, and mostly from the Middle East.

It is known that there are certain rates for contract marriages, that is from IDR 30 million to IDR 100 million. The money is later split between the victim and the perpetrator. The two pimps married girls from Kota Santri to local men, Indians, Singaporeans, and mostly from the Middle East.

“Most of the men who get arranged marriages are foreign tourists from the Middle East. The men are usually tourists visiting the Puncak area. There are also some from Singapore and the India,” said the Chief of the Cianjur Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Tono Listianto, on Monday (15/4/2024).

“Apart from foreign men, there are also local men from Jakarta to Makassar,” he said.

The endowment money is then taken immediately after the approval is given and divided in half. Especially for victims, the money is also taken out of the payments of witnesses, guardians and false governors. After the marriage is agreed and the dowry money is distributed, the victim is immediately taken by the husband to stay for the agreed period.
