On January 24 and 25, matches of the 1/4 finals of the Australian Open tennis championship for women took place.
On Wednesday, Poland’s Magda Linett proved to be stronger than Czech Karolina Pliskova, reaching the semi-finals of a major for the first time in her career. Previously, she had never gone beyond the third round at Grand Slam tournaments.
In another match, one of the favorites of the tournament, Arina Sobolenko, confidently defeated Donna Vekic from Croatia.
Elena Rybakina and Victoria Azarenka won their matches on Tuesday.
Note that Lynette and Sobolenko have not yet played in the finals of the majors.
