Innlandet police were informed on Friday evening that two people had been scammed in the order of hundreds of thousands of crowns.
– Do not click on the links!
This is the clear message from operations manager Bård Einar Hoft.
He says that two people have reported fraud and that the amounts are in the hundreds of thousands of crowns.
– Both people received a text message saying that something like the state collection center has sent a message in Digipost. There is also a link to Digipost in the text message.
Hoft explains that an error message is displayed when clicking on this link and that it takes some time before being called by someone pretending to be a Sparebank1 Østlandet customer service representative and says they can help with the access .
– The person who calls himself a customer service representative is described as an eloquent person, who has authority and credibility, and people are then unfortunately tricked into giving up codes, account numbers and other things.
Shortly thereafter, the money is withdrawn from the account.
The police therefore warn against activating links in this way.
– Do not click on the links! If you are wondering if you have received anything from Digipost, log into Digipost as normal. Public authorities do not use links in text messages. They ask you to log in the usual way, says Hoft.
