Two weeks partial lockdown with ‘curfew’ in Suriname due to coronavirus

Enhanced measures in Suriname due to coronavirus

Surinamese president Desi Bouterse has just announced stricter measures in Suriname in connection with the fight against the corona virus (COVID-19). One of the measures is a partial lockdown for 14 days.

Suriname cannot cope with an epidemic, which is why these measures have been chosen, said the Surinamese president. The partial lockdown means that there will be a “curfew” from 20.00 – 06.00 in the morning from Sunday.

Gatherings are also limited to a maximum of 10 people with immediate effect. In addition, all casinos will be closed until further notice starting Saturday morning at 10:00 am.
