In recent months, many models have left the Russian market, but this time the good news came: we will still have Volkswagen Golf of the eighth generation! There is no talk about localization, and in general, this hatchback in our market will rather perform an image function: it is stupid to count on a large volume of sales. Therefore, the Golf will appear in only two expensive versions, and the Russian office of Volkswagen has shared the first details about them.
The first version is the Golf Exclusive with a 1.4 TSI turbo engine (150 hp) and an eight-speed “automatic”. Equipment includes matrix LED headlights, tri-zone climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, virtual gauges, heated steering wheel, an electric driver’s seat with memory and massage functions, a rearview camera, parking assistant, blind spot monitoring and wireless smartphone charging.
And such a hatchback will be accompanied by a “charged” Volkswagen Golf GTI! In the new generation, he got a 2.0 TSI turbo four (245 hp, 370 Nm) and a seven-speed “robot” DSG with two clutches, but the basic version with a six-speed “mechanics” will not appear. It, too, will be available in only one configuration with 17-inch wheels of a special design (18-inch are available at a surcharge) and sports seats. For a surcharge for both cars, you can order an advanced media system with a ten-inch screen, voice control and navigation, Harman / Kardon audio system, head-up display and panoramic roof.
Pricing and launch dates will be announced later – the Golf has yet to be certified yet. But the initially promised version with aspirated 1.6, it seems, will not appear in our country. As well as other varieties of Golf – station wagon, Alltrack, hybrid and most powerful all-wheel drive Golf R.
