Two Unmissable Presentations in Mexico City: “Giselle” Ballet and Yukalpeten Orchestra Anniversary Concert

In the cultural billboard from Mexico City there are two presentations (danza y music), which take place this Sunday and are unmissable for all types of public.

“Giselle”a ballet classic that is in turn inspired by another classic (“Germany”, by the German poet Heinrich Heine) is being presented today at the Esperanza Iris City Theater.

In the Germany of the Middle Ages, two men want to win the heart of Giselle, a young peasant girl; the first, Hilarion the hunter; the second, Duke Albrecht, who frequents her under a false identity so that she does not suspect that he belongs to another class and is engaged.

Hilarion, being rejected, decides to reveal to Giselle what Duke Albrecht is hiding; but learning the truth triggers the madness and death of the young woman, and attracts the Willis, figures from Slavic mythology who take revenge for women who have been deceived; the Willis, then, will go for Hilarion and, later, for Albrecht.

This version of “Giselle” is made by the National Dance Company and today is its last performance at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris (Donceles 36, Centro), at 6:00 p.m. Prices range between $200 and $300 pesos.
