A stab wound to the heart is the official cause of death of a 29-year-old Ukrainian citizen who was attacked with a knife by two of her compatriots near Plonsk, central Poland. The suspects are 27 and 44 years old. The second victim, a 21-year-old Ukrainian woman, is in hospital, rdc.pl reports.
The massacre was ominous, according to Plonsk District Prosecutor Eva Ambrosiac. The autopsy revealed numerous cuts and stab wounds to the face, shoulders, chest and thighs, which are typical of a protective reaction.
The cause of death was a stab wound to the chest, which also affected the heart. The knife with which she was stabbed is long – said the prosecutor.
She added that the issue of handing over the body of the deceased will be discussed with the sister of the victim, who currently also resides in Poland and cares for the victim’s 11-year-old daughter.
The incident happened on June 3, around 1:15 p.m. The duty officer at the Plonsk police department received a signal from the Emergency Call Center that in the town of Natspolsk, in the municipality of Narushevo, two women had been attacked with a knife by men.
Officers sent to the scene, along with paramedics, provided assistance to the victims – one of the women, as it turned out later, a 21-year-old Ukrainian woman, was taken to hospital by air ambulance. The second victim, a 29-year-old Ukrainian woman, died on the spot despite resuscitation.
On the same day, police arrested two suspects, also Ukrainians, aged 27 and 44. They do not have refugee status. This status was previously granted to both women who were the target of the attack.
There are also witnesses to be questioned, including the second of the women attacked, a 21-year-old Ukrainian citizen who is still in hospital in critical condition, the Plonsk District Prosecutor said.
Border fraud
The Plonsk District Prosecutor acknowledged that one of the circumstances that needs to be clarified is the crossing of the border by the 27-year-old perpetrator of the attack, who is subject to military service in Ukraine.
It is clear from his explanations that he came to Poland by fraud because he crossed the border with his mother – a disabled person, whom he allegedly had to take care of, after which his mother returned to Ukraine – said prosecutor Ambrozyak.
Earlier, the Plonsk District Prosecutor’s Office charged the 27-year-old with murder, while the 44-year-old Ukrainian was charged with aiding and abetting the murder and attempted murder.
The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges against him and gave comprehensive explanations, indicating the place where he hid the knife used for the attack. On the other hand, the 44-year-old accused gave a brief explanation, emphasizing that he was intoxicated at the time of the incident and did not plead guilty.
The children are in shock
The results of the investigation show that the 27-year-old man wanted to receive information from women about his wife’s current whereabouts. The suspect arrived in Poland four days earlier because he believes his wife is with another man.
After the incident, the two children of the injured 21-year-old Ukrainian woman were examined in hospital, so far they remain there for observation.
The spokeswoman for the district court, Judge Ivona Vishnevska-Bartoshevska, announced that a decision had been made to place them in a foster family while the proceedings were ongoing.
