According to Agence France-Presse, on August 31, local time, the Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) issued a statement saying that two Mi-8 military helicopters crashed during a combat mission in eastern Ukraine, killing six soldiers.
According to reports, the crash occurred on August 29, local time, in the Kramatorsk region east of Donetsk. Ukraine’s State Investigation Service did not elaborate on the specific circumstances.
The statement also said that the Ukrainian Security Intelligence Service’s pre-trial investigation will temporarily focus on whether there were security violations during the flight or preparations. In addition, the investigation will also ascertain “whether the enemy may have carried out an act of sabotage against the helicopter.”
Investigators will also examine data from flight recorders and the technical condition of the helicopter, the statement said.
