Waldsassen. On Saturday morning, two Ukrainian citizens, living in the Czech Republic, rode the cycle path from Eger towards Waldsassen with e-scooters that were not “registered” in Germany.

The vehicles were similar in design to an e-scooter, but with seating and front and rear wheel brakes. According to research on the Internet and information from the two Ukrainians, the motorized two-wheelers can reach a top speed of up to 45 km/h. Insurance license plates would have to be attached to such vehicles if operating licenses were granted.
Fake driver’s license
Due to the language barrier, the two people and their “vehicles” were taken to the Waldsassen police station and questioned there in the presence of an interpreter. Since a driving license is required in Germany to drive such vehicles, the two were asked via an interpreter for a suitable driving license. One of the two then handed over a Ukrainian driving license. The other could not produce a corresponding document.
After a brief check, it turned out that the driver’s license shown was also “forged”. When questioned, he admitted that he had “bought” the driver’s license for 400 euros. After appointing an authorized person for service, the two were released after the matter had been dealt with. On instructions from the public prosecutor’s office, the two e-scooters initially remained at the Waldsassen police station for further checks. The two are now expecting reports under the Compulsory Insurance Act, the Criminal Code and the Road Traffic Act.
