Inlandet Police initially reported a “scene of very extensive damage” after a road traffic accident involving two trucks on National Highway Three near the town of Åsta on Monday evening.

Police initially reported three vehicle trains were involved, but later changed that to two.

Operations manager Haagen Løvseth tells VG at 11pm that it is not a serious accident and that two lorry trains have been involved.

– We almost have to go back to exactly what happened, but what we do know is that one is lying in the ditch and another remained on the road after the accident, he says.

The latter truck has several punctured tyres, police say.

– There have been reports of three and four convoys of trucks in the accident, but there is a lot of heavy traffic in the area at night, and these are likely just convoys of trucks that have passed by, he adds.

No injuries were reported in connection with the crash.

Closed for a long time

The crash site is just over nine kilometers south of downtown Rena, he writes The oriental.

– It will probably take some time to save the cars, so the road will probably be closed for some time, Løvseth tells VG.

The alert went off on Monday evening growing danger of slippery roadsespecially in Eastern Norway.

It was particularly challenging at the start of the day on the E6 in Svinesund, where a trailer caused long queues all day.
