At least 12 injured in two train accidents in Switzerland. The trains most likely derailed due to strong gusts of wind from storm Mathis. One of the people is seriously injured, the authorities report.
The one accident happened at the end of the afternoon near Lüscherz, west of Bern. The rear part of the train derailed and ended up on its side. An unknown number of people were injured.
A regional train also derailed at Büren zum Hof station, north of Bern. Twelve people were injured in the incident, according to police. Among them are three children. Forty people were able to leave the train unscathed.
According to Swiss broadcaster SRF a wind gust of 136 kilometers per hour was measured around the time of the derailment at Büren zum Hof.
