two Touraineers take part in the Paris-Nice 2021 version

It’s like a revival for professional cyclists. A year ago, the Paris-Nice race was interrupted on the eve of its arrival on the French Riviera due to the start of the health crisis. A year later, the riders are getting ready to start the event this Sunday. A 79th edition which will end in Nice on Sunday March 14. Like last year, the two Touraineers Jonathan Hivert and Cyril Lemoine, reunited this year in the same “B&B Hotel” formation, are starting the race in the sun.

Even if the calendar of events was disrupted with some races canceled in 2020, the season was able to resume at the beginning of 2021 with there also some cancellations of races and the difficulty for the different formations to prepare collectively explains Jonathan Hivert: “There are very few teams who did internships at the end of 2020, it was the catering that was the problem because catering to 40 people at the same time when everything is closed is not easy. We made the choice to go to Spain in January instead of December. We were in a bubble at the hotel with PCR tests“.
