Two terrible hurricanes could hit the Gulf of Mexico together: it’s the first time

Next week – for the first time ever – two hurricanes could hit the Gulf of Mexico simultaneously. The event may not even happen, as only one of the storm systems has strengthened to become a dangerous cyclone, but not yet a hurricane. While the other is “just” a tropical depression.

Models have suggested such a possibility and storms are still following the path it would lead to disastrous event of a double hurricane. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued tropical storm warnings across much of the Caribbean for the tropical storm Laura, which reached wind speeds of between 63 and 118 kilometers per hour.

Tropical Depression 14, which will take the name of Marco should it become a tropical storm, is moving more slowly. The first forecast maps of the interacting winds of the two storms they show them superimposed in the Gulf. Meteorologists, for their part, said it was still too early to predict exactly how the two phenomena will behave.

One possibility is the Fujiwhara effect, a term used by meteorologists when two tropical cyclones approach and start “dancing around their common center”. In addition, according to the Washington Post, Hurricane Marco may be delayed by giving it more time to strengthen on hot water. In short, we can not help but wait and hope that this terrible event does not break out on the Gulf of Mexico.
