Two Teens Charged for Attack on M6 Journalist in Nîmes

Aged 16 and 17, they appeared this Thursday, June 8 before an investigating judge. Before being placed in pre-trial detention, in stride, by decision of the judge of freedom and detention.

On Tuesday June 6, an M6 journalist was attacked by several individuals in the Pissevin district of Nîmes, as he was preparing to shoot images from the Marc-Bernard media library, which is closed until further notice.

This Thursday, June 8, two of the alleged attackers – aged 16 and 17 – were referred to the prosecution, while a judicial investigation for “intentional violence in a meeting” was opened.

According to our information, only one of them would have recognized the facts.

Now indicted, these two boys were placed in pre-trial detention at the start of the evening, one in Perpignan, the other in Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone, for a month renewable only once.

Under the direction of an investigating judge, the investigations to come will now attempt to determine the degree of involvement of each in the attack on this image reporter from Montpellier, rescued by the police and who had to to be hospitalized in the aftermath of the incident.

Their appearance in juvenile court should not take place for many months.
