Two teenagers seriously injured in hit-and-run accident, pol … (Hoboken)

Hoboken –

Two brothers aged 10 and 15 were seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident in Hoboken on Thursday. The police calls on the driver involved to report and is also looking for witnesses to the accident.

The accident happened on Thursday 3 December at around 4.45 pm, at the intersection of Oudestraat with Notelaarstraat in Hoboken. The two brothers, aged 10 and 15, were on their way home from school and crossed the street at the intersection via the pedestrian crossing. There they were hit by a car.

It is not entirely clear how the accident could have happened. “There are no direct witnesses to the accident,” said Antwerp police spokesman Wouter Bruyns. The police are therefore looking for the driver who was involved in the collision and are calling for witnesses.

“Many willing witnesses presented themselves to the police at the scene of the accident, but there is no information available that leads the police to the person concerned,” it said. It can be deduced from an initial statement by one of the victims that the person concerned was driving a rather small white or gray car. Images from nearby cameras cannot help.

Two ambulances and a medical team arrived on the scene to administer first aid. “The victims suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized. They are out of danger, ”says Bruyns.

Cold weather

Several bystanders were concerned about the victims after the accident. “The police, the victims and their mother want to thank everyone. For example, a doctor provided the first care and there were others who covered up the victims until the arrival of the emergency services, ”says Bruyns.

“Many witnesses, including minors, endured the rough weather in the hope of helping the police in the direction of the driver involved. One of the bystanders accompanied the victims to the hospital, awaiting the arrival of their mother. ”
