The victims, two brothers aged 10 and 15, are in hospital with serious injuries, but are out of danger.
The accident happened at around 4.45 pm on Thursday at the intersection of Oudestraat with Notelaarstraat. The two victims were on their way home from school and were crossing the street at that intersection via the pedestrian crossing when they were hit by a vehicle. Several bystanders were concerned about the victims.
For the time being there are no direct witnesses to the accident, camera images could not help the police either. The exact circumstances are therefore still unclear.
The police do now a call to witnesses and also asks the driver of the vehicle in question to report himself. It can be deduced from an initial statement by one of the victims that the person concerned was driving a rather small white or gray car.
