Two teenage students from Presentation College Headford have died and two others were injured in a traffic incident in Headford, Co Galway. The incident occurred at 5:45 am on a one-car stretch of road near Pollacullaire. The car collided with a tree during the heavy rain, and it is not believed any other vehicle was involved. Emergency services were called to the scene and one boy was declared dead. Three others were taken to University Hospital Galway, where a girl later died. Local diversions were put in place and forensic collision investigators were called in to examine the scene. Presentation College Headford activated its critical incident plan and would be open to offer support to the affected students.
