The ‘dryer’ is on! Fans, players and other staff from Mirassol and Novorizontino will be ‘touching their hands’ to support Ceará this Monday (11/18). The reason is more understandable: if Vozão loses to América, the two from São Paulo will mathematically guarantee themselves in Series A of the 2025 Brazilian Championship.
Only champion Santos has already made it to Serie B. Five other teams are fighting for the remaining three spots: Mirassol, Novorizontino, Spórs, Ceará and Goiás all just one more game to play, except Vozão, with two rounds To go. The classification is as follows:
- Santos – 68 points in 37 games (champion and with guaranteed access)
- Mirassol – 64 points in 37 games (18 wins and 15 draws)
- Novorizontino – 64 points in 37 games (18 wins and 13 draws)
- Sports – 63 points in 37 games
- Ceara – 60 points in 36 games (18 wins)
- Goiás – 60 points in 37 games (17 wins)
This Monday, Ceara will host América at Castelão, in Fortaleza. The stadium is expected to be full with more than 62 thousand people – which would be the record for this edition of Series B.
If Ceara wins
If they win, the black and white team will equal 63 Sport points, but they will surpass the Pernambuco team in the number of victories (in this case, it would be 19 to 18 for the Ceara team).
In addition to returning to the G4, Ceara would take Goiás out of the fight for access. This is because the emerald team could even reach 63 points if they win in the final round, but they will not return to the G4, since they would reach 18 victories – a number lower than the 19 hypothesis of Vozão.
So there would be four teams left in the fight for three places in the elite: Mirassol, Novorizontino, Ceara and Spórs.
If Ceara draws
A draw with América would keep all five teams fighting for the final. This is because Ceará would reach 61 points, in fifth place.
In this situation, Goiás and Vozão themselves could still pass Mirassol, Novorizontino and Spórs.
If Ceara loses
Finally, if Ceara loses against América, two other teams would be guaranteed in Serie A: Mirassol and Novorizontino. Only the São Paulo teams could be overtaken in the last round by Sports, but they will not lose their place in the G4.
Therefore, a loss for Ceara would leave only one place in the elite still available for grabs in the final round of Series B. Vozão would compete for this place with Spòrs and Goiás.
