Police arrested two Syrian brothers aged 20 and 22 last night. They are suspected of having prepared a terrorist crime, reports the prosecutor. The arrests were made in Stein, near Geleen.

An investigation was launched into the brothers after the AIVD intelligence service forwarded information about the two to the prosecutor this week.

Details of the suspect were not disclosed. A spokesman for the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the moment does not want to say anything about the content. “The investigation is now focusing on what the suspects had in mind.”

The police searched the home of the two in Stein. No weapons or explosives were found. The two can only have contact with their lawyer. The prosecutor does not anticipate further arrests in this investigation.
