Two Swedish men were killed in a shooting attack in downtown Brussels, Belgium.
At approximately 7:15 pm on the 16th (local time), a man appeared on a motorcycle near Place Saint-Terrette in Brussels, ran into the entrance of the building and fired eight shots at people.
After firing all his guns, the man fled on his parked motorcycle.
According to eyewitnesses, the man reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar (God is the greatest)” in Arabic before committing the crime.
After the incident occurred, a video of a man claiming to be the culprit was posted on a social media account. The man in the video introduced himself as a “fighter for Allah from the Islamic State (IS)” and said he “killed three Swedes.” .
Meanwhile, two Swedes were killed by a gunman’s shooting, and another was seriously injured.
The Swedes who died were wearing the Swedish national soccer team uniform at the time of the incident, and a Euro 2024 qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden was in progress at the Stade Rois Baudouin Stadium, about 5km away from the incident site.
When news of the shooting terror broke out, the game was stopped after only the first half.
