On Tuesday evening, an Aldi branch and a Jumbo branch were robbed in Roosendaal almost simultaneously. The suspects fled and are currently being sought by police in the area. A supermarket in Roosendaal was robbed twice before this month.
First, around ten past seven, an Aldi on Philipslaan was ambushed by a man with a knife. He fled on foot after the robbery. It is unclear whether he stole anything.
Fifteen minutes later, it hit a Jumbo supermarket on Lindenburg. It concerned two young men who also threatened with a knife. No one was injured. The duo fled with the loot.
Alerts
Police have launched a manhunt and have issued descriptions. Police say they are investigating whether the robberies are related.
In the case of the Aldi robber, it is a man with a beard and shaved black hair. He was wearing a black jacket and had a plastic bag with him.
The robbers at the Jumbo supermarket are two men who are estimated to be between 18 and 20 years old. One of them was wearing a white cap. Both wore black clothes.
Previous robberies
Earlier this month, an Albert Heijn branch and Plus supermarket were also robbed in Roosendaal. This means that four supermarkets have been robbed in the city in just over two weeks. It is still unclear whether there is a connection.
