The Judiciary sentenced two soldiers of the Peruvian Army to 9 years of effective prison for the commission of the crime of aggravated fraudulent embezzlement in the Army Education and Doctrine Command – COEDE of Chorrillos to the detriment of the State.
The soldiers identified as Luis Teobaldo Soldevilla Espinal and Paddy Nolan Llimpe Correa were found guilty of the accusations of illegal appropriation of 786 Soviet-made defensive type BRM 75 war grenades and 104,750 9 x 19 mm caliber cartridges.
According to the prosecutor’s accusation, “on March 7, 20 and 21, 2015, the accused major of the Peruvian Army, Luis Teobaldo Soldevilla Espinal, as Head of the Maintenance and Transportation Company No. 503, appropriated 786 Soviet-made defensive type war grenades and model BRM 75 and 104,750 cal cartridges. 9 x 19 mm., counting for this purpose with the complicity of the official, Third-Party Technician Paddy Nolan Llimpe Correa, as Head of Warehouse No. 1 – Temporary of the Company. No. 503, materials valued in the sum of 134 thousand 368 soles.”
Furthermore, they add that “this system was repeated up to three times, where the participation of each of the accused was appreciated, as well as the neutral conduct of the Peruvian Army technicians.” Finally, he accused himself of having sold the aforementioned war material.
The Anti-Corruption Collegiate of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima Sur, made up of judges Nidia Rusbeldina Sierra Jerónimo, Cristhian Javier Salazar Costa and Miriam Leguía Soto, ordered those convicted to pay civil reparation for the sum of 169 thousand 368 soles in favor of the State.
