A road accident occurred this Sunday around 2:30 p.m. on the RN 10, near the town of Lonnes. For reasons that are still unclear, a driver lost control of her vehicle while heading towards Poitiers, between the Aunac and Les Nègres Sud exits. The car left the road and ended up in a ditch.
According to The Free Charenteaboard the vehicle, the 29-year-old driver and her 30-year-old passenger managed to evacuate the car before it caught fire. Despite the impact, the two women were only slightly injured. They were quickly taken care of by firefighters from the Mansle, Ruffec, and Aigre emergency centers, then transported to the Ruffec hospital center for further examinations.
Fire spreads to neighboring field
The fire, started by the accident, spread to the neighbouring field, burning around 500 m² of vegetation before being brought under control by the firefighters. The rapid intervention of the emergency services helped to limit the damage, although the causes of the road accident remain to be established. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
