Two sisters, aged 13 and 14, have been repeatedly abused by their stepfather, a public servant, in the region of Zaire, according to a complaint made to SOS – Criança. The accused has not yet been arrested due to the alleged lack of evidence, which leaves the victims in a vulnerable position
In the period from 14 to 21 September 2024, the National Institute of Children (INAC), through the SOS-Criança reporting service, which operates on the telephone number 15015, received a total of 412 reports of violence facing children across the country, where we can highlight the areas of Bié, Benguela, Huambo, Luanda, Moxico, Uíge and Zaire.
The SOS team, in the region of Zaire, raised a complaint of sexual abuse involving two sisters, aged 13 and 14. According to the complaint, the victims are often abused by their stepfather, a public servant , which has so far been released due to insufficient evidence.
Still at SOS, in the Luanda region, the best is three complaints, two of sexual abuse and one of accusations of witchcraft practices. Regarding sexual abuse, one happened in the town of Belas, neighborhood of Sapu, where the victim is a 10-year-old male child. According to the complaint, the attacker is 18 years old, and he threatened the victim with a knife to complete the abuse.
The case is now under the control of the National Police at local level and the victim will now receive psychosocial support from INAC. Another attack took place in the town of Luanda, Chicala region, whose victim is seven years old, also a male.

Rape is not everything, since the INAC report also talks about a case in the Benguela region, in the town of Baía Farta, whose victims are between eight and 14 years old. The eight-year-old child was abused by her 57-year-old neighbor.
According to the complaint, this is a recurring practice. The prosecutor took advantage of the child’s vulnerability to carry out the act, gave the child 50 kwanzas to buy something and made death threats if he told anyone. The child claims that she was abused more than five times by the accused.
According to INAC spokeswoman Rosalina Domingos, all cases have been forwarded to the municipal and regional commands of the National Police, municipal and regional social action offices and INAC regional services.
