An accident happened on the A7 towards Hoogezand on Wednesday afternoon because two sheep were walking on the highway.
One sheep was hit by a car and did not survive the impact. The driver was not injured, police say, but the car was unable to continue.
On the other side of the A7, two cars collided at about the same time. The cause of this accident is unknown, but the drivers may have been distracted by the events across the street.
The A7 has been closed off for some time. The second sheep has now been caught.
