Five people were injured when two leisure boats collided in Bærøyfjorden outside Kragerø on Sunday night. Two are seriously but not life-threateningly injured. One has head injuries and the other has broken bones.
– Several are injured. We have two who are characterized as seriously injured and who receive health care, says operations manager Ottar Steinstø to NRK.
Three others are slightly injured.
There was an emergency message about two boats that had collided in the strait off Kragerø at 1.10
One boat, with the injured, arrived at the harbor at Kragerø. There must have been eight people on board this boat. It was previously downgraded to five, but was later adjusted to eight again.
It quickly became clear that boat number two had driven on after the collision.
The main rescue center launched an action after the report.
Search completed
At 2.20, the police stated that the owner of the other boat had reported. It drove into a marina not far from the accident site and there were three people on board, but none of them were injured.
– The search has ended on our part, says operations manager Ottar Steinstø in the Southeast police district to NTB.
He later states that the boat driver in the other boat is suspected of drink-driving.
The main rescue center put the air ambulance in search and a rescue helicopter from Rygge participated in the search for the other boat. In addition, both the lifeboat and a coastguard vessel contributed to the extensive action after the accident.
