Two positive corona tests overshadowed the preparation of the Slovak national soccer team for the second group game against Sweden on Friday (3 p.m.) in St. Petersburg. Coach Stefan Tarkovic confirmed at a press conference on Thursday that a player in Denis Vavro and a member of the coaching staff had contracted the virus.
Both are in self-isolation and the association is working closely with the Russian health authorities and UEFA, said Tarkovic. Defender Vavro shows no symptoms. “He’s fine,” said the Slovak coach, “I’m very sorry that the player won’t be able to play in the next games because of Covid.”
