Two people within Sparta have tested positive for the corona virus. The Rotterdam club therefore had to put a line through Saturday’s practice match against the French Lens.
Sparta does not state in the statement whether it concerns players or staff members. The persons concerned have immediately gone into home quarantine and are being monitored. They have no complaints at the moment, but received a positive result on Friday after a new test round within the first selection of the club.
The news follows five days after Sparta’s much-discussed exhibition match against Feyenoord. Two days before the encounter in De Kuip, a player tested positive for the townsman. On Monday, the contamination came to light from a second player, who had just played on Sunday.
After the positive tests on Thursday, Sparta has decided not to board the bus for a four-hour ride to Lens on Saturday.
