Two police officers injured during a chase in the Rhône – LINFO.re

On the night of Monday October 14, a refusal to comply caused a serious incident in Caluire-et-Cuire, in the Rhône. A motorist hit a Specialized Field Brigade (BST) vehicle, injuring two police officers.

What happened?

The scene began in Rillieux-la-Pape (Rhône), when the driver, a Swiss national residing in the region, was spotted by the police around 1:30 a.m. Ignoring the stop signs, he fled in the direction of Caluire-et-Cuire.

The fugitive lost control of his vehicle at a roundabout. He hit street furniture before going the wrong way onto Avenue Général Leclerc, where he hit the BST car. The collision caused injuries to three police officers. Two of them had to be hospitalized.

Call for a stronger state response

Alain Barberis, departmental secretary of Alliance Police nationale, expressed his indignation following this incident. He stressed the need to take firm action against refusals to comply, emphasizing the importance of an appropriate judicial response to deter such behavior in the future.
