DOBŠINÁ. After a smooth course of the first Saturday’s driving race XXXVII. year of the car race to the top on Dobšinský hill 2021, the Škoda Fabia vehicle piloted by Dušan Tóth crashed in the middle of the second timed training and broke through the barriers.
The vehicle caught the marshal and slid a few meters below the track. Emergency rescue vehicles were launched at the scene of the accident, which freed the injured racer and the marshal in the presence of the event’s doctor.
A helicopter of the air medical service was called to the scene, which transported the marshal to the hospital in Košice. The injured competitor was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Rožňava. The condition of both injured is out of danger to life.

“After these actions, we called the commissioners and the safety delegate almost immediately, who, after examining the circumstances, decided to cancel the further course of the event for security reasons,” said race director Marcel Kollárik in a press release.

“Despite the fact that the hospitals came with good news and professional examination at the trauma department of the hospital in Košice, the serious injury of the marshal did not confirm. I think that this decision is the most correct that we could have taken in the given situation.
We are deeply sorry about what happened and accept responsibility for this event. We are aware that we have done our utmost to ensure the safety of the track, but motorsport is extremely dangerous.
The condition of the barriers on this public road is unfortunately behind the zenith to guarantee at least basic safety for this sport. However, this is not entirely in the hands of the organizer, who has invested considerable resources in the preparation of the track. We wish both wounded an early recovery. “
