Two people lost their lives and several others were injured after a spectacular traffic accident occurred between a bus and a cargo truck during the morning of this Monday, April 29, in the province of Mayabeque.

According to the publications shared in the Facebook group ‘Accidents, Buses & Trucks, for more experience and fewer victims’, the incident occurred in the municipality of Madruga, when a bus from the Transtur Company collided with a ZIL-130 truck. .

According to the state media Diario Mayabeque, at least four people suffered serious injuries, while another unspecified number suffered minor injuries after the crash.

The official reporter María Amalia Pérez Suárez indicated on social networks that workers from the Ernesto Guevara thermoelectric plant in Santa Cruz del Norte were traveling on the bus, while the truck belonged to the Madruga loading base, in the same province.

Pérez Suárez also specified that the crash took place near the Aguacate cemetery, and that the injured had to be taken to several hospitals for treatment.

“The event took place near the Aguacate cemetery and those affected were treated, first, at the Dionisio Sáenz polyclinic in that town, and later at the Leopoldito Martínez provincial hospital,” he added.

Photographs and videos circulating on social networks show that the bus ended up severely damaged in the front, while the cargo truck was split in two, with the front part ending up about 10 meters from the bus and the rear part embedded in the Transtur company vehicle.

At the moment, the causes that led to this accident are unknown, but experts went to the scene to collect evidence and determine what happened.

Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased were the drivers of both units, who have not been able to be identified.
