– The two people have been picked up by the rescue helicopter. The state of health is not known, says rescue manager at the Main Rescue Center (HRS), Eirik Walle.
The people are transported to Haukeland University Hospital for further treatment.
Boat capsized
It was around 11.15 that the police were notified of what they describe as a drowning accident at Eigerøy lighthouse in Eigersund municipality.
A boat with two people on board must have capsized somewhat within Eigerøy, by Noragapet.
All rescue resources were then sent to the site.
– We have been informed that the people are in connection with the boat, says operations manager in the police, Toralv Skårland.
At 11.35, HRS stated that the rescue crew was on site, and that two people had been located in the water.
Witnesses are taken care of
People in another boat in the area came to the accident site and became involved in the rescue work.
– They are taken care of by health personnel, the Main Rescue Center informs.
The emergency services and the Main Rescue Center are now cleaning the site.
